My parents asked me how about Halloween in Europe. There is not any person who take care Halloween. Because here is Europe. Martin said at once "Halloween is American culture".
Trafic accident (30/10/2008)
It's not happen to me. One long trailer run front of my car. He tried to change lane by showing indicator. But it's tough because this trailer is too long and there were some cars. But suddenly he changed lane and one car, which is in side of trailer, They hit each other, therefore they stopped center of the road.
It wasn't serious accident, because the speed was not fast less than 30km/h. So I have to take care safety driving.

By 30th Oct, One internet shop, which I use to buy Japanese CD and DVD, is doing special campaign. I can buy without sending cost if I entry this campaign and pay about 4000 Yen at first. So I join it and ordered several books. Today First shipment has come. I haven't to pay sending cost and they don't charged it to me, but I checked it in the invoice of this package. It's about 9000 yean even SAL. How do they get turnover?
It will finish tomorrow. Therefore I did final order today. I can use weight limit to buy other purpose when I go for business trip to Japan next time. I like looking book and CD store and buy new one without information. So "The story of Roman" will be complete. And I ordered "Nihilistic Corridor 3rd edition" and book which is written by Bruinel.

If I calculate my bank stock as Japanese Yen. But it's not important because I'm living in Europe now. So I'm focus on real job not on money market. It's my family's policy.

My training wheel has 36 spokes only one wheel. Sometimes it has large number than front and rear wheel set for racing wheel. Exactly, it's heavy, but it has strong point as strangeness for hard use. "Possible to back home" is important, because I ride bike not only narrow area but also wide area like mountain.
I requested to charge rim to OpenPro from MA40 before I came to Hamburg. Then mechanic Mr. Nagai said "This MA40 rim is possible to use still now. there is not any contortion" Therefore I requested him to give it to other's who will use it for hard racing.
I looked one page that Team Astana is using strong complete wheel for training which has 32 spokes and low profile rim. If possible to buy it, it's better to use for training.

Martin got holiday last week. He came to my desk with print out paper which is drawing of special part. He asked me "Where does this drawing come from Tokyo or USA?" No. It's made in Hamburg. I designed and draw it. He said "Really? I think it come from Toyo, because this drawing has professional looks" So, He didn't imagine that I can do mechanical design.

I changed handle position to lower height. I can ride it as same as before. Is it possible to use long stem which was used in cycrocross bike?
So my bike is racing position now. And European biker like upright bracket position like my bike. And my bike doesn't have any additional equipment without meter. Therefore I fell there is too may equipment when I looked Japanese bike picture in internet. My bike doesn't use even saddle bag, because I put tools in bottle.

I changed handle position. Basically, it's better to change to over size clamp system, because I can use parts for road racer and cycrocross each other. They can get same position by using 20mm difference stem, because length of top tube from bottom bracket is about 20mm. many person said that Look has long top tube. But it's not real. You can find that Look is standard if you observe length from bottom bracket.
So, I reduced stem length 5mm and down handle about 20mm. I felt it's tough on the roller. But it's not problem during actual ride on the road. Will I try to more low height handle position. My bike is using A head adapter. It's possible to change height easily.
Do you know it's better to avoid change parts of Bike Saturday evening? Because shop closes from Saturday afternoon to Monday. So if you need more part during conversion work, you have to wait until Monday.
NASA and NASU (24/10/2008)
I went to electric shop front of central station in the evening. And I went to DVD floor to check DVD as my normal behavior. Then I found 60 years anniversary DVD of NASA and got it. There is English part and German part.
And also, I checked animation corner. Then I found "Nasu DVD set" It's Euro 22. Is this cheap even high Yen and Euro rate?
Resident officer is easier than foreign student (23/10/2008)
I read some Blog which explain like this, because company prepare house and visa for them, But foreign student resident officer of Japanese company is too tough.
Can you imagine that local colleagues think Japanese engineer knows everything? So, our colleagues asked me when we evaluate proto types in Europe "Is it possible to use this function? why is it impossible? when will it be possible?" I have no idea. We are same start line, because I looked this products only few hours, and you were in Japan same as me.
Of course, I can imagine optical part, but I don't know everything. And optics is not important part in this product. martin, Wolfgang and Buelent knows about it, and they gives me time to think and search information. But other new colleague think that I can answer immediately.
Roller trainer (22/10/2008)
I have to take care about sounds for it. Because people is sensitive about sounds in Germany. Is it effective to reduce sound by balance of wheel? I will buy new wheel and use old one for roller trainer. Therefore I'll try to get good balance of it.
I eat Banana every morning. I know there is trend to eat it in the morning in Japan. But it's not relationship with it. So Banana is easy food for morning. I don't need to cook.
Other possibility to reduce sounds is to bring roller to underground room.

is recognized that he can't design mechanical part? I designed small mechanical parts because Tokyo doesn't designed it even it's important for customer. Therefore I discussed with Martin to design and make it in Europe as local solution. But many Japanese colleagues said "Can optical engineer design mechanical part?"
I send final design idea to Tokyo and request to fix tolerance. But I did with Power Point because CAD is not available in our office. So I read drawing and input data to Power Point sheet to check to avoid conflict with each part.
For me, it's easy to think about mechanical part. I think these are same image to think about orientation of me at first visit place and to think about total design of mechanical part.

I said to colleagues "Customer ask me about our products directly by e-mail and Tel" But they are surprised.
Is it normal procedure to give my business card to customer and put it on the our product when I went to customer site to do installation? Because it means local rep can't follow that we go to customer site from Hamburg our head office in Europe. Why they can't imagine it even their origin is sales division? So, something are strange in our company.

Can you imagine terminal is tent. I think it's enough for this airport because of few number of flight per day. May be Shizuoka and Ibaraki airport, which will be open in the future as local airline and low cost airline, are small terminal. Do you know Kagoshima airport is big, because there are so many flight to islands, and are international flight. At once JAL requested to get flight licence to use Kagoshima, because there are so many passenger,
Nihilistic Corridor third edition (18/10/2008)
is published as paper back. The first edition was published as hard cover 1987. It's 20 years ago when I was high school student. I know that third edition was published before, but I wait paper back. I will buy it next business trip to Japan. And i surprised that I read it last Wednesday to check description about positron, then it's published.

I bought score stand to read book on the bike.
At first I went to one shop which I found in google. But it's not actual shop, it's factory. Therefore I went to other shop and found cheep one, which is better to set it around bike. And I surprised because of location of this music instrumental shop. It is in base of antiaircraft gun which was constructed before world war 2. I can't imagine this building is used as music shop and music school as hobby. Can you imagine it looks like that Shimokura gakki is in daiba?

I woke up 4 o'clock and took flight to Luebeck from London Stansted. I had to drive car about 70km. It's same as distance between parents house and Narita airport. But I felt it's easy than Japan. I think the reason is twice of driving velocity.

Especially academicals person, it is in UK not USA. I will go for it as one night stay business trip. Fortunately, it will take only one hour, But there is possibility to take several hour to installation job unfortunately. Therefore I planed to stay one night. I will not bring my running shoes. My baggage is occupied tools and part already.
By the way, I recognize where I will go tomorrow by looking map. Because I path front of institute when I went to Cambridge last October.

I bought Sunnto T3 cycling kit. Of course Germany is not holiday today, so I received it at office.
Roler training is not interesting with only time and hart rate data even reading books. And I read one Blog that is written by Roppongi Express. So I know Suunto is possible to observe velocity by rear wheel. I don't yet up date impression of Sigma Sport BC1706HR.
Of course, I use BC1706HR as actual ride. This is better to operate on the bike, because it is designed for bike use. But I don't add distance of roller training. So, I bought other computer. It's easy to set up and recognize of hart rate sensor and bike pod. But I had to read manual to input bike data. Because wheel distance has to be divided by 2050. Other issue is easy. Of course I bought European version, therefore there is not Japanese user manual.
Sunnto doesn't have auto start and stop function for bike. Therefore, I think it's not better for Japanese market. For Europe and USA and in house training, it's no problem. Of course I will use on the actual ride to calibrate it by comparing with data of BC1706HR.

Does prof. Yukawa study Physics Education? At least he is experimental guy. And he had lecture about quantum nano technology at academic meeting of applied Physics. Do you know students doesn't apply any report to professor? Because there is weekly meeting in lab. Then member has to inform result and plan, and they discuss problem in this meeting.
I spend happy time at lab in university, because I could do everything for my apparatus to first idea, fine design, drawing, discuss with work shop, assemble and first test. I talked with young students who is in other university. Then they said that they can use apparatus as limited machine time. Because many students use it. So, I could occupy my apparatus as 100% work time. But there was risk. The apparatus has to share machine time means that it works very well. But my apparatus was totally new. Therefore there was not any result now. So it depended on me 100%.
But there was other good opportunity. I could write master degree paper when I could observe first data by this apparatus. I got data mid of December. And dead line was 10th of January. Therefore I went to lab to write paper even 1st January.
For cobble road? (12/10/2008)
I read one Blog which was written by racer who participated in cycrocross world championship. There is one picture of her bike. This bike uses O ring for wiring. Should be it need avoid strong sound on the cobble road. Therefore I will bring back my bike with O ring to Japan. May be, many Japanese rider say "Why do you use O ring? Did you buy this bike as complete set?" Then I will answer to them. "Don't you know the function of it on European cobble road?"
Of course I understand that professional cycling team like STEVENS or Fassa Baltolo, don't use it, because mechanic has to take care many bikes. But it's better to use as personal use.

I had one experience that my finger was cold injury, because I mistook to touch Liquid Nitrogen server by wet finger. Then my friend helped me. So, there are many dangerous situation in Physics lab. ECR ion source emits radiation, because it uses plasma, and highly power and highly deflected electron in plasma emits radiation. Therefore we used plumbism plate around ECR ion source.
IR (Infrared Radiation) Laser is dangerous (09/10/2008)
Especially high energy laser is too dangerous. I set upped detector in London, then there was some smell which was burned by IR laser.
And also I felt something at my neck when I tried to optimize my apparatus in University. I found that one red laser introduced to my neck position.

It's not surprising for me that the researcher who found something else for GFP got Novel prize. But it's surprising that they got chemical area not medical area. So I'm involved as work which uses GFP deeply. If you watched images of cell, then these images were observed by apparatus that was developed by me.
By the way, it looks similar the lab set in "Galileo" and the lab where I was one of member of them when I was master degree student. Because there is 2nd floor which is in lab space. The electrical part was in 2nd floor of it, and main beam line of ECR (Electron Cyclotron Resonance) highly charged ion source was on ground floor. Therefore I had some experiences to constructing which normal physics student doesn't do.
Simply, ECR ion source is "Big power microwave apparatus" The beam pressure was 10-10Torr order even we could correct beam as better. Therefore we did effort to reach high vacuum to 10-12 order to avoid noise. There are about 1000000 particles par 1cc. SEV said that they emit 10000 particles per cubic inch. Why do they use cubic inch not 1cc? It's easy they would like to improve number by using cubic inch. it's trick. It means pressure as 10-14Torr order. For me its noise level. If these negative ion attack human, then current will be 10-15 A. It's too low current.

Prof. Nanbu and others get Novel prize. So it's said that he will get it in the future in Physics society.
Today I woke up early, And I slept twice. And the DVD box of "Galileo" arrived today. It's strange as physics lab. Many physics guy doesn't wear lab coat. Is it typical image as Physics doctor in general people? But it's same as our lab that there is internal 2nd floor in the lab.

I listened one radio CM, of TV star magazine "We found a picture of Taishu Kase when he was child" Then I totally misunderstood "We found a picture of Kaishu Katsu when he was child" it's great! But it's not strange, because the name of Taishu Kase is dedicated from kaishu Kase.
There are many books about end of Edo period, because origin of our family is Kagoshima area where were so many people who worked for revolution. Was there any person who worked for revolution and anti revolution in Shizuoka area?

Works team of Focus used power tap which is possible to observe actual out put power at warming up. Of course they didn't use it at race. Because the race is too fast and it's impossible to check power during the race. And it's interesting for me that they used light ration gear as warming up. And they did strong sprint as warm up at actual ride.
Many racer uses hart rate monitor at race in Japan. But only about 20% racer uses it in this race. And almost race doesn't use cycle meter. I think they can't have enough time to look it and vibration is too strong. Junior class racer doesn't use hart rate monitor during race.
i thought that Canti brake has 99.9% share. But it is 90%. Mini V brake has about 10% share. Of course elite race uses canti brake, especially they use flog type canti brake.
I changed brakes from canti to V type with cable adapter, because I avoid take time. But it's possible to get same stopping in Canti brake as V brake by changing settings, because brake lever ratio is same as together. So, wiring is not good for canti. If you change wire work as yellow line in above picture. And also flog type Canti brake is better to get strong stopping power. So, angle between wire and lever is important.
Some web site say travel agent doesn't have good feeling. But I don't think so. It's possible to get good feeling if you did correct setup procedure.
It's interesting that Stevens bike set upped shift wire throughout under Bottom bracket. Isn't it same as Belgium in mud condition? And nobody wear Windbreaker after warming up. As information, temperature is below than 10 degree now even daytime.

I went there again. So race speed is too fast. I think it's faster than JCRC in Shimousa. It's only one chicane point. But raide in elite class paths on the bike. Only Junior class run off bike. is it team order in Stevens works team? It's interesting to know how to take off bike and take on bike.
the speed was about 40km. Can you imagine?

I think they are great. They did one hand standing at other slope. It's possible to me. But they did non hand standing and keep it about 10 seconds. It's unbelievable. So they are training to improve their balance. And there bike doesn't use expensive component. They are using Sora which is cheapest component in Shimano.
I took pictures at welcome point where is neighbor of race track and famous sight seeing point in Hamburg. Of course I ate Captain Sandwich which is ver famous.
I went there at kunch time. Because I thought race schedule start from morning. But it start from lunch time. So, Elite class start in the evening. Therefore I went to shopping to Elbe shopping center. I heard that one kind of Japanese noddle is sold in this shopping center. And I got it finally.

There was German cup cycrocross race in Wedel. It's 1st and 2nd round in this season. This is U23 World champion Niels Arbert. Of course he doesn't wear world champion wear because it's Elite class.
May be he was German champion at 2006. He is in STEVENS team. Of course STEVENS team support their works member because STEVENS is host team of this race.

I have one experience with Italian colleague. He called me "We have big problem, suddenly intensity has been reduced, our service rep checked it but he couldn't solve it, I think it's big problem and only optical Engineer can solve it, Therefore, I will send set of it to you!" I said "May be, beginner moved uncorrected knob, did you check it?" Finally I found when I was opening shipment without whole setup checking.
It's same as these situation, "Our car doesn't have enough power. why? Our dealer engineer checked it but it can't solve" And maker engineer found that side brake has been effective.
It's better to eat Italian food and but Italian product that is stocked in shop already. I think that food quality and sensitivity for job is inversely related in Europe without Belgium.
We had one meeting. In this meeting Gunnar said "You should be focus on technical part, and you should be involved these business" I said "Basically I agree about it. But there is one issue, I'm involved purchasing issue in our system products. Is it acceptable for you that I will transfer this job to other Japanese colleague, who is talking care purchasing job basically?" Gunnar accept is basically.
It's not fair that Japanese technical guy is involved marketing and purchasing issue, but Japanese purchasing guy is not involved because they said "We don't know technical issue". Of course I take care technical issue, but it's purchasing. Why can they say that they don't know their company products?
